Eight Views of an Abandoned Dock

December 9, 2016 By Jodi

Abandoned dock with clouds and low sun

If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I'm fairly obsessed with a certain abandoned dock not far from our home, which I encounter on my midday walks. The scene varies day to day, depending on the light, the clouds, the season, the surface of the sea.

What is it that brings us back to the same spot, again and again, with or without a camera? There are plenty of gorgeous spots to pause when I go walking, but this this is the part where I always pause and pull out my phone. I can think of other eras of my life when I've gone for regular walks to same place, and always paused at the same point to take in the view, take a few deep breaths, reach out my arms and stretch my chest.

Do you have a favorite spot, or a surprising spot, that you're drawn to?

Another great spot in my neighborhood, and another view from our place.

At the end they asked readers to respond it a question, so I did. (A bit tipsy, mind you). Apparently they liked my response, and they shared it with their IG community (just a cool 134k followers), and I have been over the moon with the response. The comments have been a treasure to read. Thanks, @girlsnightinclub, for what you do and the community you’ve created.
