Introducing Sonia!

February 11, 2019 By Jodi

I have exciting news to share: I'm bringing a new, regular contributor on board here at Dear Sabrina! Sonia and I met when our kids were at the same preschool, and I instantly admired her style, thoughtfulness, humor, and the community she had created as a local business owner in our small town. After many serious coffee dates at which I implored her to join me, she finally relented—and then I realized I had to revive my own enthusiasm and implore myself to get writing again. Now, here we are.

I'm thrilled to welcome Sonia's readers and fans to Dear Sabrina. Welcome! Take some time to look around and get acquainted with the site. We will probably make some thematic updates soon, like switching out "Life in Sweden" for "Local Living" or something similar, as we explore and share what it's like to live in a small town in the Pacific Northwest.

Now, here's an introduction from Sonia herself.

Hello readers! I am delighted Jodi has invited me into her lovely space at here at Dear Sabrina. I've been reading Jodi's work since we first met, and am regularly inspired by her words to think of things in a new way.

When Jodi asked me to contribute to her blog, I was intrigued. It had been a while since I'd published anything to my own blog, a space that has evolved from a knitting blog to a personal blog and website. I felt somewhat apprehensive; what did I have to add here? Then she and I had some interesting conversations about possible content and suddenly I was brimming with new ideas!

I am excited to bring some of the things we have been discussing in real life to this space. I look forward to joining the conversations Jodi has started on topics like parenting, friendship, books, and maybe even my own categories of melancholy. =)

There are a few stories I can tell you about my life, journey to parenthood, and being a serial entrepreneur, but I'll save those for another time...see you back here soon!

At the end they asked readers to respond it a question, so I did. (A bit tipsy, mind you). Apparently they liked my response, and they shared it with their IG community (just a cool 134k followers), and I have been over the moon with the response. The comments have been a treasure to read. Thanks, @girlsnightinclub, for what you do and the community you’ve created.

Missing our Swedish adoptive family so much this year—and always. They made Christmas magical for the kids, and for us. The meals were magnificent, the laughter abundant, the candles extra twinkly. We are more for having known them, and less for not having them in our lives every day.
